Imagine for a moment that you could live forever... or if not forever, at the very least you could live for a very very long time. For a price, you could actually extend your life years beyond what you could ever naturally expect

maybe that price would be money, maybe it would be a number of years dedication to an expirement, maybe it would simply be a matter of knowing the right guy

The problem is, to keep your secret secret and keep the world from knocking in your door (thus discovering the dirty secret of what you did for longevity), every so many years you have to "disappear". You have to leave your family, "forget" your wallet and all identification in a hotel room, blow up your house and all evidence that you ever lived there, change your name and fake your death, leave your wife a speculative widow (speculative enough to try searching for you in a mental hospital)

But what about the people? I mean, it wouldnt do to be walking through a mall in Australia only to be spotted alive and well by your daughter, or your son, or your illigitimate stalker son (though he was useful for a kidney), or your "widow", or the man who swears that one day he'll kill you after handing you a letter he penned in his childhood

Its only a possibility, but well within Lost canon that deaths can be faked... and anyone who died off the Island is wide open to "come back from the dead"

all of these people supposedly lost someone under mysterious circumstances, and truthfully if these deaths were faked these are the people who could unravel the secret

Kate (Wayne)
Jack (His father)
Sawyer (the real Sawyer? Who could be almost any of these people)
Locke (Cooper)
Libby (Dave)
Ana Lucia (last person to see Christian alive)
Shannon and Boone (Adam Rutherford)
Michael and Walt (Walts mother)
Hurley (pick a number)
Claire (her father Christian Shephard?)

and then of course there are the others such as Jin or Sayid, whom Paike and the CIA might like to "disappear". Or Eko, after investigating the "death" of the psychics daughter

Almost every single person on flight 815 was someone that "somebody" might want erased.

I always did think that the authorities were going to FAR too much effort to catch a girl who may or may not have killed a scummy drunk. However if Kate was the loose thread in making Waynes death official, then to what ends would they go to track her down and put her away? What if Christians expiration date was up, would the "cleaners" come and erase his bloodline? Make his children disappear?

What if the Island itself has nothing to do with the Losties connections? Theyre connection is purely pre Island and has to do with their families? Was it the Hanso foundation? Widmore? Paike Heavy? Which of these organizations is tasked to erase all signs that various flashback characters ever existed?

And did they intend for flight 815 to be doomed, not ever expecting that Desmond and a freakish twist of fate would pluck their plane out of the sky and actually rescue them?

Good stuff Dr. Hanso but I think Libby is connected to HIM, or another other, maybe UnHenry, but I'm not sure anymore. I'm thinking her husband faked his death and later on she found out and is now searching for him.

I think she had a lot more knowledge about what was suppose to happen on that flight.

But she doesn't tell anyone because it would look bad if she knew the plane was suppose to either land on the island or really crash.

I don't think she knew about the whole DHARMA Inititive, but she was on that plane because she was looking for her husband, and she thought he was on the island.

argh (makes frustrated face)

i was going to actually update this (now that it isnt 1a.m.) with what i think are "clues" to the Hanso Foundation actually manipulating events in the Losties lives. Problem is, alot of it hinges on the historical clue that while involved deeply in the slave trade, the Hansos were also involved in the gold market. Adding two plus two, it oddly makes sense that subtle hints implicating the Hanso foundation would be gold. Such as gold pens signing away Claires rights to the baby, or Jack signing a form in his fathers office absolving him of guilt (or not) with his fathers gold pen. And then there are the recurring gold cars making sudden yet life altering appearances in flashbacks. In "real life" it wouldnt make any difference what color these things are, but gold is used as a subliminal clue to say "these events are all connected"

When Kate was caught the first time and then escaped, she and the marshal were driving a gold car... when she escaped from the hospital, eventually killing Tom (wasnt that his name?) in a collision, she crashed into... a gold car

When Locke met his mother, when Coopers con began, he was hit by yet another gold car

When Michael was injured and thus losing the ability to stay in Walts life, it was due to a hit and run by... a gold car

i think theres more as well, but of course for some reason nobodies made a list of all the car instances even though it seems to be such an integral part of the breadcrumb clue plot

following that... The lawyers office where both Claire and Michael were asked or persuaded to sign away the rights to their possibly "special" children. The office was gold from roof to floor.... accents mostly, but gold all the same

i think the color gold has been used throughout the series to represent the Hanso Foundation (or Widmore, depending on Hansos involvment in the Lost universe vs. the ARG) in their pursuit of various people to either move them out of the way (such as Kate, who may well know more than they want her to) or to advance their own already ongoing projects (trying to adopt Aaron, possibly planting Brian to keep a thumb on Walt and his mother)

and then of course, theres a golden retriever Twisted Evil

I don't have much to add, but the stuff about gold is very, very interesting.... I like that idea a lot.....

because sadly it was decided long long ago that i was simply too attractive to be allowed outside of my home
the ensuing riot of people madly in lust with my visage might just be too much to bare, and so i live inside a plastic bubble surrounded only by Lost S1, a theater sized television and several copies of Readers Digest (circa 1974) Really, under those circumstances, what else could i have to do?

no actually i have way way way too much time on my hands and an overactive/analytical imagination that might never be put to better use than solving the mysteries of television plot

its a curse

dont hate me because im beautiful

Cool

Wow! This theory must have taken a lot of thought. I like the gold references too.
