Update on the FlashForward Story, Page 2!
Ok, I haven't been on the forum since before the finale aired for reasons best known to me, and will most likely stay that way. Because of this, none of my theories are based on anything that I have read anywhere on this forum (because I haven't), and some of my theories here have a little (some, not much) basis from the show.
FOR JACK:
We will find out why he was in Phuket. He couldn't have just been there to learn to play cards, right?
We will find out why he got the tattoos he has, and where he got them.
He will be released soon to accomplish an unknown task (possibly on one of his flashback episodes this season).
He will escape when Sawyer tricks the Others.
FOR KATE:
We will find out what she did before she killed her biological father.
We will find out more about the man she loved (and ended up killing in Born to Run)
She will have to help the Others with something (possibly having to do with escaping, in case anyone else gets captured. Remember how good she was at escaping.)
She will be caught by the others when she tries to flee with Jack and Sawyer, but manages to escape on her own.
FOR LOCKE:
He is not dead yet. The island spared him because he admitted he was wrong.
In his next flashback episode, he will die.
Anthony Cooper returns to finish what will be revealed as a Long Con.
The Long Con will result in both the death on Anthony Cooper, and the paralysis of Locke.
We will find out how he met "Helen", the woman he was talking to in "Walkabout".
We will find out what made him believe. Believe in what, you ask? Watch the show.
FOR CHARLIE:
The heroine that he threw into the ocean will wash ashore again, and he will be tempted again by the death of Eko partway through the season.
FOR SAYID:
He is in danger by the Others. Remember, Fake Henry Gale said to Hurley that Hurley's friends are "Coming home with us," meaning that they are going back to their camp where Sayid, Sun, and Jin are. However, an attempt at rescue will be made, and will fail.
We will find out about the relatives he had in the village that Tariq gassed (from the tape that Sayid was shown in his flashback in "One of Them").
FOR JIN:
See first paragraph of Sayid
We will find out why he was ashamed of his father (last flashback in "...In Translation").
FOR SUN:
See first paragraph of Sayid
We find out that the Island, along with it's ability to speed up healing, will also speed up the process for the developement of a baby. However, once the baby is fully developed, the island can't do anything else. So, Sun will still have to carry a child only for a few more months (perhaps she gives birth at the end of Season Four).
FOR CLAIRE:
Her first flashback episode was called "Raised by Another". We all took it to mean that Claire was going to give the baby away for adoption when her boyfriend, Thomas, ran away. But give more thought to the title. It could also read "Raised by an Other". This probably has no significance, but perhaps Thomas is an other, and is discovered on the island. Desmond did ask if the father was on the island. Perhaps he knows something (not that he should, but he might). [BRILLIANT IDEA] Perhaps Mr. Friendly, now known as TOM by Mrs. Klugh (or Clue, whatever), has on aging make-up and such to make himself look older, and is our Thomas.[/BRILLIANT IDEA]
FOR EKO:
In the time that we don't see, he forgave Locke.
He is not dead yet. The island spared him because he forgave Locke.
Partway through the season, in his flashback episode (about what, i don't know possibly where he learned to fight), he will die because of a choice that he made regarding the Church.
FOR ROSE/BERNARD:
We find out more about their short marriage.
We find out what each of them did before they met eachother.
Rose or Bernard makes an important discovery about the island when she notices a speedboat approaching them. Probably about why no one can leave the island.
FOR HURLEY:
We see the accident in his next flashback.
We discover more about the numbers, and a possible clue as to the source of their power of "bad luck".
FOR SAWYER:
He will be the means of escape for himself, Jack, and Kate when he successfully tricks them somehow.
FOR DESMOND:
He is not dead yet. The magnetic buildup leaked towards a certain wall, because that was where the fault in the concrete was. The explosion of the magnet went in that direction, away from the hidey-hole that desmond was in. The explosion went through the hatch and blew out through both exits, which caused the door with the word "Quarrantine" on it to blow to the hatch. Desmond managed to escape somehow.
We will find out why he went to jail in the first place.
We will find out how he met Penelope.
FOR MICHAEL/WALT:
They follow the directions as accurately as possible, but, as Artz said, monsoon season was coming up. Guess what. It's monsoon season, and therefore, they get blown off-course, and can no longer follow the bearing of 325, so they don't find rescue. Instead, the island sends them back around the island, so they return to their camp, where they are discovered by Rose or Bernard. Michael explains what they saw, which was a bizarre current surrounding the island.
FOR DANIELLE (French woman):
She will be important for discovering the island's secrets, such as what the monster is (are you really going to just accept a big cloud of black smoke as something that can knock down trees, make big mechanical noises, and skin people alive? Me neither), how she discovered the Black Rock, and what the sickness did to her shipmates.
Non-character specific theories are:
Well, I don't really have any...
Please tell me what you think about this, and if I come up with more things, I'll post them! _________________

thanks
i spent the entire rainy twenty-minute walk home today thinking about it, and that's what I came up with (minus about 90%...i came up with that here).
NEW THEORY:
RODZINSKY (Kelvin's partner)'s first name begins with "S". I'm gonna look up Polish/Russian/whatever people we've been introduced to in flashbacks with names beginning with "S" to see if i can find someone that it could be.
UPDATE (SEMI-SPOILER INCLUDED! DO NOT READ IF YOU DO NOT WANT THE SPOILER) It would appear that Michael is not coming back next season, but Walt is. Therefore, instead of Michael telling Rose or Bernard, Walt does. Walt is found in considerable stress, because one day, he woke up to the sound of his father screaming something that sounds like "We're near", he suddenly can't find his father anywhere, and the sound of the screaming stops (he did hear the screaming for a few moments after he woke up, then silence). _________________

more updates as to my theory:
The Swan Orientation video said "Not long after the experiments began, however, there was an incident, and since that time, the following protocol has been observed: every 108 minutes, the button must be pushed." I would like to note how many people believe that the incident was when they forgot to push the button. But notice that he says that ever since the incident, you must push the button. The incident was when there was no button, and instead, 108 minutes after the experiments began, everyone in the station was killed by the supermagnet. DHARMA managed to shut it down temporarily, and they installed the computer. Ever since then, they have had to push the button.
-----
We're going to see the monster again soon. Remember the episode "Walkabout" from the first season? And how Locke, for lack of a better word, encountered the monster? And lived? And also how the plane's pilot encountered the monster, and was skinned? Well, here's some insight into the monster. It is part of the paraspychology station. Dictionary.com defines parapsychology as: "The study of the evidence for psychological phenomena, such as telepathy, clairvoyance, and psychokinesis, that are inexplicable by science." psychokinesis there is defined as "The production or control of motion, especially in inanimate and remote objects, purportedly by the exercise of psychic powers." Big-cloud-of-black-smoke-that-can-make-loud-mechanical-noises-and- knock-down-trees-and-go-through-its-own-"body"-and-skin-people-bloody anyone? What the monster does is it finds targets that give off specific mental waves, such as those who "believe", and attempts to read these brain-waves. It stores them in its data stream, and then returns to the station and has all of its information removed, and is then processed. The removal takes a long time, which explains the absence of the monster from Season 1 Episdoe 4 to Season 1 Episode 23 (hehe, two of the numbers) and from Season 2 Episode 11 onwards.
Unfortunately, in the case of the doomed pilot, he tried to escape, whereas Locke and Eko just stared it down. The monster attacks all those who try and escape from it, which is why the pilot died, but Locke and Eko came from the encounter unscathed. So, if the monster comes at you, try not to scream.
-----
The "Others" are part of one of DHARMA's experiments, the one that the Orientation video was spliced through. It said "...pursue research in meteorology, psychology, parapsychology, zoology, electromagnetism, and utopian social--" and then a splice. So far, we don't know anything about the meteorology station, the pearl is the psychology station, the monster is part of the parapsychology station, the swan is the electromagnetism station, and the Others are utopian social something group.
HOWEVER, the Others have found the parapsychology station, and discovered how it works (so they control the monster). The "room" that Mrs. Klugh threatens Walt with is actually a way to create an astral projection of something, though the (yes, you have permission to laugh at this next statement) particular complex hypergeometrical functions that are used cause time to travel in reverse for the object in question by perhaps moving at a speed greater than that of light. What happens is that the Others select a point in time (it's always in the not-too-far future), put Walt in a bathtub or something which the neccessary reactions can occur, and Walt's astral-projected form is "sent" forward in time. From there, time travels in reverse until the point in time that he is seperated from his body, and is then returned. The seperation causes the body to go cold and numb, and the return is always a painful experience, hence Walt's fear of going back to the "room".
Walt has powers, and the Others know it. He can cause things to happen, making him an ideal test subject for the parapsychology station. He gained a special connection with Shannon when he gave her Vincent for protection (both Shannons' and Vincent's). As a result, in his astral projection form, Walt would visit Shannon. Since for him, time travels in reverse, he knew about the impending danger that Shannon was in, and on many occasions, failed in his attempts to warn her for his being merely an astral-projection. But remember, walt has powers, and on two, and only two, occasions, managed to temporarily make himself corporeal, meaning physical, and tried to warn Shannon. However, Shannon was unable to understand her, and on the third time he made himself corporeal, he wanted to say good-bye. But he knew the Others were listening, and if they suspected what he was doing, he would be in alot of trouble.
-----
Hurley will have the next run-in with the monster. Fortunately for our man, every four successful runs, the brain-waves that it seeks changes, and this time, it seeks those that suspect that they are cursed. Wait up, you might say. Eko and Locke only make two! Ah, but before the losties came, the monster had two successful runs. One of them was Desmond. The monster found Desmond a little ways offshore, and it detected the right brain-waves, scanned his mind, then (and here's the weird part) rescued him, placing the unconscious man where Kelvin was likely to find him, while still making Desmond suspect nothing. Could the monster have a mind of its own?
-----
Walt and the boat will not return until episode two/three of the third season, but we see the boat in passing in the season opener.
I am currently working on a possible season structure, detailed by episode, for season three. I'll try and post every two or three episodes, but key episodes will be posted when I finish. _________________

ok, see i don't understand why no one is even saying anything, and it's infuriating.
however, corrections are as follows:
Locke DOES NOT DIE IN HIS NEXT FLASHBACK EPISODE. Rather, he disappears, and is PRESUMED dead. He returns on the season finale. He's needed later. Eko, unfortunately, will still die.
I forgot to mention that Anthony Cooper either A) is the real Sawyer or B) long-conned the real Sawyer.
I also didn't add that in a Sawyer flashback, we find out how he and Higgs (from "Outlaws") met, and why Sawyer tells Higgs that next time he sees Higgs, Sawyer'll kill him. if that made sense.
an addition:
Locke's sacrifice to protect Jack causes him to see that through everything that's happened since they crashed, Locke's purpose was to do what's best for all of them. So, for the first time in over 75 days, Jack asks the Island a question--"What am I supposed to do?!" _________________

I particularly like your ideas about Walt and the 'room'. This is the only 'Walt appearing to Shannon' theory that I have heard which I like. Although it is quite far out, it is a very, very intersting idea, as it fits together particularly well... _________________ LOST IS LOOPS. Click here. |

The return of JoeMoron2000's Theories!!! (Woo-hoo!)
(By the way, if you read my predictions for season 3, you'll notice I got a lot of things right!)
IDEAS BASED ON SEASON 3:
The Island of Erised
For those Harry Potter fans out there, you should get the reference. If you don't get it, here's the basic idea.
There is this mirror called The Mirror of Erised. Written on the top of it is the words "Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi". This is garbage unless you read it backwards, and it says "I show not your face but your hearts desire".
Since the island isn't a mirror (an actual mirror, not figuratively, a point that I am staying far, FAR away from), the island has a different way of doing things. It gives you something that you really, deep down, want. It's not like if you have a craving for ice cream, ice cream will magically appear, it's that if you really want something, and it means a LOT to you, it just might happen.
But not the way you'd expect. Let's start from the beginning, shall we?
(In order of first flashback [not including the pilot episodes])
Kate: She's a fugitive. She's made her way since she killed her father by running from the law wherever she can. Then she gets caught by the Marshall, and, just when it seems like there's no possible way out, the plane crashes. She wanted, more than almost anything, to be freed from the Marshall's clutches once again.
Locke: Here's a guy who can't walk, who was betrayed by his father, lost his girlfriend, got pushed out of a window, and couldn't go on a walkabout because he was in a wheelchair. Basically, his life sucked. He was most disappointed about being in a wheelchair, as the rejection from the walkabout was still fresh on his mind. For Locke, the thing he wanted the most was to regain use in his legs. The island helped him do that.
Jack: He's a great surgeon, but he can't let go, and he's easily manipulated. He wanted a chance to start over with his father, and he got it. He crashed on the island, and the island sort of created something in the image of Jack's father.
Sun: As the daughter of a rich man, you'd think that Sun has got everything easy. She doesn't. She's in love with the son of a fisherman, and the only way for her father to accept the marriage is if Jin works for him. Okay, that's fine, but Jin starts coming home with blood on his hands. They want to get away from Sun's father, and, through the crash, she succeeds.
Charlie: A drug addict who is feeling the loss of Drive Shaft. He wants to get back into stardom, and the only way to do that is by getting his brother to come back to the band. A trip to Sydney reveals that his brother has settled down and doesn't want the life and glory of being a rockstar anymore, and Charlie gets on the fateful Oceanic 815 plane. All Charlie wanted was to be famous again... He got it. When the plane crashed, as speculated by Charlie, and revealed by Naomi, has sparked a sharp increase in sales of Drive Shaft albums.
Sawyer: When he was just a kid, he witnessed his father kill his mother, then kill himself. How he ever found the name "Sawyer" is still up for interperetation, but we know that he did, and that ever since then, he's tried everything he could to hunt him down. Then one day, Higgs says that he's found him -- found the man that ruined his life all those years ago. Frank Duckett, formerly known as Frank Sawyer, lived in Sydney. Thinking that his search was finally over, he shoots the man, only to realize that he was lied to, that this man was innocent. On the plane that's deporting him from Australia, all he can do is wonder where the real Sawyer is. 2 and a half seasons later, it turns out that the man who ruined his life is on the same island he crashed on.
Sayid: This one is interesting, and in order to understand why he came to the island, you have to understand the mindset he was in. 7 years ago, he'd set the person he loved free, Nadia. Ever since then, he's been searching for her wherever he could. Finally, the CIA tracks him down and tells him that they know where Nadia is. They'll tell him if he gets his friend to kill himself. In the end, Sayid gets his friend to kill himself, and the CIA tells him that Sayid now has the next flight to Los Angeles, but he stays behind to claim the body. Sayid now feels terrible for what he's done, and he doesn't think that that's the kind of story he would like to tell Nadia that he had to go through to find her. He's sort of distressed, and wants to repent for what he did. He crashes on an island where he now has an opportunity to save the lives of so many people and get them all rescued. That's the kind of thing that he'd want to tell someone he loves.
More to come soon, I promise. _________________
