Wait..there's an episode called Sundown?

I haven't heard of that yet.

Yes, the episode titles are rather dull and uninspired, in my opinion. I have ranted sbout that before.

How about "Sundown at Jacob's Digs". That sounds cooler.

And change "Dr. Linus" to "Linus Performs a Colonoscopy"

I am sure there is a deliberate reason why LOST has changed its titles from what used to be quite insightful or colorful to rather dull and quirky now. I don't think anything about S6 is happening by accident, even something trivial like episode title complexity.

Well I just hope that the final two episodes (the finale) won't be titled

The End Part I
The End Part II

Slightly uncreative, but also if that were the title it would make me depressed because it reinforces the fact that it IS the end.

On second thought....naming the last two episodes The End part 1 and 2 would be nice. Provides a definitive end to the story.

Its better than what Stargate does with their multi-episode season finales, they'll name the two episodes differently, but attach Pt. 1 and Pt.2 onto them anyway, whats the point?

Ex: 1-20-Politics Pt. 1
1-21-Within the Serpent's Grasp Pt. 2

How does that make any sense? LOL

It makes no sense. If you want to be a good tv show, you must stay consistent.

What if Lost named the season 5 finale...

Jacob is real part 1
The incident was a bomb part 2

???

No sense.

Has anyone else noticed that the centrics of season 6 are occurring in the same order as season 1?

Season 1 for instance:
Pilot Part 1 & 2 - multi (Jack, Kate, Charlie if we're getting technical)
Tabula Rasa - Kate
Walkabout - Locke
White Rabbit - Jack
House Of The Rising Sun - Sun & Jin
The Moth - Charlie

Now season 6 (speculation):
LA X Part 1 & 2 - I would hazard a guess at multi
What Kate Does - Kate
The Substitute- rumoured to be (F)Locke
Lighthouse - Jack?
Sundown - Sun & Jin, purely because of the 'sun' in the title
Dr. Linus - Ben

If we believe that season 6 will be a lot like season 1, then placing the focus on characters per episode in the same order seems like a logical step in creating this effect, though of course nothing is logical with this show.

Obviously there are holes with this idea, like episode 7 of season 1 was Charlie-centric and it appears its season 6 counterpart is Ben-centric but Charlie is dead (dead is dead) and we have now have new or different characters who need to be added into the mix. So when it gets to an episode that would (according to this line of thinking) be Michael or Boone centric we instead get someone different in their place like Miles or Richard...

Episode 8 then Sawyer-centric?

Another obvious flaw is that this season will be shorter than season 1 but I thought this would be a cool thing worth mentioning.

(I hope this hasn't been mentioned elsewhere, I searched but couldn't find anything)

Northy: it's an interesting idea. Yes, there are some holes in the idea, but I think the closer we get to January, it's possible this idea will be more plausible. We still don't know much about season 6 yet.

I am glad that there is another Ben-centric episode.

But seriously the writers could do better with the title.

I actually am lovin the S6 titles so far, they are all very quirky and "out there".

LA X
What Kate Does
The Substitute (ok, this one is like constant and variable)
Lighthouse
Sundown
Dr. Linus

love em all, except for What Kate Does

Taste is a subjective thing. Personally, I just thought the S6 titles so far lacked imagination.

However, not sure whether or not this has been mentioned before, after reading northy's post I found another connection between S6 and the past 5 seasons in the actual naming of the titles.

I have to admit a direct connection isn't always possible, nor this idea of mine very solid. And some of them have already been alluded to by both you & northy.

LA X <--> The Pilot 1 & 2 (S1x01, S1x02)
On a superficial level, I see this simply as a reference to 815's flight route, SYD - LA.
But yes I am aware that there were lengthy discussions elsewhere on the multiple interpretations as to what the "X" or "LA X" could mean.
The LA might not be Los Angeles at all. And the X might be the variable, or Latins, or Roman numeral, or even the concept of crossing / bridge from Heidegger. The possibility is... almost endless.

What Kate Does <--> What Kate Did (S2x09)

The Substitute <--> The Constant (S4x05) and The Variable (S5x14)

Lighthouse <--> ??
Frankly I am not sure about this one as I didn't see a direct link to any past titles so it's open to possibilities.
Personally, the Lighthouse reminded me the lamp post in "The Chronicles of Nania", which was discussed in some length last year when its namesake Dharma station and logo were first revealed via Dharma Special Access.
Both Narnia's lamp post and the namesake Dharma station functioned in very similar ways.
Following that line of logic then could this title be related to White Rabbit (S1x05) (the much earlier and far more animated lamp post equivalent in "Alice in Wonderland" or its digital reincarnation in "The Matrix") or Follow the Leader (S5x15), which are both Jack-centric...?
I have also thought it might be related to The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham (S5x07)-- my idea behind why it might be this would be too long to be included here. Although less likely when compared to the other two, still possible nonetheless.

Sundown <--> House of The Rising Sun (S1x06)
Back to another title from S1, and a slightly more interesting play on words when compared to others.

Dr. Linus <--> ??
This one I have absolutely no idea.
Just a guess though, could it be a reference to "Dr. Strangelove, the ex-Nazi nuclear war expert? lol.
If that's the case then this title might be related to Jughead (S5x03).

If I am on the right track here and S6's titles all needed to be some deformed echoes of their predecessors, no wonder they all seemed a bit dull.
