The things that are going on over at LOSTARGs is making me sad to call myself a LOST fan. And the saddest part? It's the small, vocal minority that is ruining it for everyone. I am disgusted. _________________

5, same here...
I also expressed the sentiment there last night. However, they (the core few) are far more positive about the whole things than I've expected.
And seeing them to remain positive in situation like this makes me proud to be a LOST fan. _________________

Since my son woke us up around 3am, I decided to check it out then. I really like it, and if I hadn't already bought my other 2 posters, I would have tried for this one.
EDIT: It also looks like the Leia Bell poster in now sold out. Weather that's true, or just people putting it into their baskets to practice, we'll see. _________________

Yeah two copies went on to eBay straight away after being sold out.
And I was actually in front of the computer to see the "buy now" button go alive on DCaaPB, but decided not to buy it.
This poster would be one of the few that I considered to have taken an intelligent approach to the interpretation of WCM, especially in the technique Millward employed (which by the way is rarely used in his other works) to evoke the various emotions felt in that particular moment, including those belonged to Micheal who is outside the frame.
Similar to Kevin Tong's The Hatch, I honestly think this deserves a good (& maybe lengthy) analysis or critique.
The thing is, while my mind could appreciate it, my heart just doesn't like it enough to own a copy... _________________

I'd love to get a LOST poster, but I currently have 3 Van Gogh prints and several rock'n'roll related posters I have yet to frame. Now that I'm married, tacking posters to the wall with thumb tacks or sticky stuff is a no-no. _________________

I hope you are joking. You don't tack a $700 art print to a wall. _________________

Wait.....is that how much these LOST prints are going for on eBay??? Crazy.
If you're referring to the Van Goghs, I wish I had the money for a more "realistic" reproduction of these paintings. I think the most expensive one (Autumn Garden) was only $28. _________________

Well, i sure liked the new one and got lucky enough to secure one. My girlfriend and I had a nice early morning nerd fest, her on the laptop me on the desktop, at 4am following the boards and then frantically hitting F5...sure we don't really tear the world up with our actions but it was fun enough!
So with kidnapping i also have the Hatch and if the detail and subtlety that screenprints brought to the Hatch is any indication...Walt's Kidnapping should really be something.
That being said, I wonder if there are many of us on here looking for these prints. I know I've seen Spooky over at the Dark UFO ARG site, and sounds like 5 and justanothersky may be going over there as well?
Those sites are both great and they are very....dedicated....I just wonder if there are enough of us here following along and looking at getting a few more prints that we would want to update here regularly. Things on those boards seem to have gotten pretty heavy and I kinda worry that since I'm more a post once a week guy...that i'll get left out if they go quiet or exclusive or whatever when reveals happen...
anyways! sorry this is so long and kinda rambling! Basically i'm just wondering how many of us on 4815162342.com are playing along and buying prints! _________________

Although spent most of my times here, I have always visited other LOST forums occasionally as well to have a browse. This viral is the only time that I had to spend more times outside 48.com simply because there isn't much postings here. And frankly the last time I looked, there wasn't much posting almost everywhere, except a couple of places. Weird.
I've stayed around on Dark's forum, and occasionally on the LOSTargs, at the beginning of this viral (right after SDCC when DCaaPB was still a blog). But then RL got impossibly busy for a while, I also found that for all posts to be in 1 single thread (i.e. Dark's) can make following clues very difficult, not to mention there were lots of random chitchats to wade through.
So after RL became slightly less busy I had to change how I follow the clues. I'm now mostly just a lurker, occasionally spend time to look at clues. And sorry, at the moment not able (time wise) to update the clues regularly here on 48.com.
Of course, the flippers is a real problem too. They are the reason why some people are thinking of going quiet like we're in some kind of spy war. It might be coincidence, but for #11 reveal nobody even posted the url here after it's revealed. I certainly made sure I waited until the sale was over. _________________

By the way, just want to say something about getting the poster framed.
Upon seeing the 4-toed statue for the first time, even though I liked the interpretation & the composition, the print quality leaves something to be desired. I am well aware that's the inherent nature of the design itself, not printer's fault. Nevertheless, I didn't seriously think about having it professionally framed.
However, my attitude towards framing was changed drastically after seeing the Smoke Monster. The quality & the details, it's just simply mesmerizing. Now I am looking for suitable framing places to have both professionally framed. _________________

I completely agree that the flippers have kind of ruined this whole ARG. I guess, as pathetic as it sounds, I wouldn't know how to get the URLs in time to actually buy a poster without a chat room or site telling me what it is.
I mean, if I can't find the right twitter account to follow (which i dunno how you could if these people weren't making it known they'd be there on certain sites) by the time the reveal happened and I jumped around trying to google the reveal w/ in the 30(?) mins. the url gets out and the posters sell out...I'd just be out of luck.
So, it's cool that the IDEA of this is for people to work together and it's still amazing that there have been lost fans in tokyo and Scotland all posting pics and sharing the URLs with the rest of us...I guess it's just sad that it's being ruined so people can make a few hundred dollars. And if the only way folks can ensure this stays within Lost fans is to only include certain verified trusted circles then so be it. I try to let the folks at these sites know i'm keeping mine...give them the order and print numbers and all that.
But like you said, if posting 50 times a day and knowing certain "in" people is the only way to get included then I'm with you--Real life has to take precedence and if that means I miss out the last posters then so be it!
It was pretty dern fun waking up with the girlfriend and frantically reading the boards and all that and it certainly makes me feel like i've "earned" my poster.
sheesh! that's a lot of talking! i'm minus sleep and jacked up on coffee so please forgive my stream of conscious typing! _________________

Hey Guys!
I've been playing along, but honestly I've been hanging at DarkUFO this summer. Last summer it seemed that this forum was pretty active with the Dharma recruitment tests, etc, but for some reason when DCAAPB started, this forum seemed pretty dead...so I started looking around for signs of life on DarkUFO and I've been there ever since - just for the ARG. I also check out LostARGs here and there as that is a really active thread, too, but I just glance at the main page for updates, or stop into the chat room when posters are about to be revealed. BUT, I still come here to check out the general and theories forums at least once a week. This is the site where I started my Lost obsession, and gosh darnit, this is going to be the site where I complete the journey! Too bad that the ARG forum is quiet here, because it was a lot of fun here last summer. But it's nice to branch out to the other sites a little while still calling the numbers forum "home".
Anyway, I STILL haven't purchased a poster. Though most of them are great posters, I don't love any of them enough to hang them in my place. But I'm keeping my eyes open. I did attend two of the LA events, and I have a bag from Ron Herman to show for it, so at the very least I have something to remember the experience. But hopefully before the end of this I'll fall in love with one of the posters AND will be able to snatch it up before it's sold out! |

To be honest, I don't think anyone could figure out the clues & get the urls entirely on their own. Well, I know I couldn't.
And by the looks of it, the talk of going underground or going exclusive isn't going to happen.
So I think you will still be able to find all the info needed on those sites, and hopefully in time, to own a couple more posters. _________________
